Responsibilities

• May assist in patient recovery and rapid response to medical emergencies in inpatient settings.
• Communicates procedures and addresses patient concerns to ensure satisfaction.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements for safety.
• Works with computer systems and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Performs additional test administration and specimen collection as assigned.

Job Summary

Road phlebotomist - MGB Company Vehicle Provided 40 hours/week Responsible for drawing blood at patient nursing homes and homes throughout the North Shore Day Shift- 5:00AM-1:30PM Monday through Friday Every 3rd weekend rotation Summary Responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing.

Essential Functions

• Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
• Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Performs other test administration and specimen collection as assigned.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred. Experience No experience required. Completion of a phlebotomy course preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Demonstrates proficiency in proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens, including correct tube selection, volume, and stability requirements.- Possesses good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.- Superior customer service skills, with the ability to show empathy and respect for patients' privacy and autonomy.- Works independently and collaborates effectively within a team, actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. 1+ year of phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
