Job summary

Mass General Brigham seeks a Road Phlebotomist to draw blood at patient nursing homes and throughout the North Shore, with a company vehicle provided. The role is 40 hours/week, days 5:00 AM–1:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with every 3rd weekend rotation. Onsite location: 81 Highland Avenue, 40 hours weekly.

Pay range: $20.90–$25.28 hourly; Grade 3. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1+ year phlebotomy experience preferred, and a valid Class D driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 1+ year phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
• Completion of a phlebotomy course preferred.
• Valid Class D driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples using phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• May assist in patient care during adverse reactions and rapid medical emergencies.
• Communicates with patients and care teams to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements to ensure safety.
• Works with computer systems and HIPAA compliance.

Day Shift- 5:00AM-1:30PM

Every 3rd weekend rotation

Essential Functions

• Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.


• Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.


• May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.


• Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.


• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.


• Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations.


• Performs other test administration and specimen collection as assigned.

• Demonstrates proficiency in proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens, including correct tube selection, volume, and stability requirements.


• Possesses good written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.


• Superior customer service skills, with the ability to show empathy and respect for patients’ privacy and autonomy.


• Works independently and collaborates effectively within a team, actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

1+ year of phlebotomy experience strongly preferred
