Position Summary
The Road Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled, skilled and manual labor. The Road Maintenance Worker works on a crew engaged in the maintenance and repair of county roads, bridges, right of way, street signs and other assigned structures; and may operate a wide variety of light or heavy construction equipment such as dump trucks, water trucks, pickup trucks and mowers, backhoes, bulldozers, chippers, excavators, boom axes, rollers, and graders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Knowledge of light and heavy equipment and its operation.
•Skilled in the operation and control of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials requiring complex and/or rapid adjustments.
•Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work.
•Ability to exert physical effort to meet the demands of the task.
•Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture and visual cues or signals.
•Ability to communicate orally.
•Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, noise extremes, machinery vibrations, or traffic hazards.
Minimum Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience performing manual and semi-skilled labor and operating light or heavy equipment; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
•Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver's License. If CDL incentive applies, must maintain appropriate endorsement(s).
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug testing, physical fitness testing and criminal background check.
I understand that final confirmation of any job offer will be contingent upon my undergoing a pre-employment drug screening, and failure to submit to such screening, the falsification of a screen, or a positive finding on a test will remove me from consideration for employment for one year.
