Job Description

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking Skilled Road Laborers for our Houston, TX area. You will perform a wide range of manual duties, including lifting heavy items in various weather conditions. Come join the PSC team.

Job Responsibilities

Perform a variety of manual duties, often working in a utility capacity by transferring between projects or tasks, requiring assistance from workers with varied experience and the ability to work independently.

General Requirements

• Practice safety rules.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Use hand & power tools safely.
• Report to and assist your supervisor.
• Perform quality work as per project specifications.
• Be accountable for tools and materials at the end of your shift.
• Work well as part of a team.

Functional Requirements

• Measure distances, drive stakes, and assist in grading and pipe laying.
• Level earth to fine grade specifications with shovel for excavations.
• Assist in concrete work, erect shoring, and paint pipe joints.
• Assist with setting pumps and well-points.
• Support heavy equipment operators and direct truck and scraper drivers.
• Work in concrete paving crews and sometimes lead labor crews.
• Exercise independent judgment to plan routine work and accept responsibility.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Some construction or general labor experience.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.
• Must not pose a safety threat to self or others.
• Compliance with site safety requirements (e.g., PPE, steel-toe boots).

Physical Requirements

• Pass physical exams and comply with drug policies.
• Climb, maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier items).
• Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
• Work while wearing PPE and in various weather conditions.

Work Environment

• Construction sites and fabrication shops.
• Navigate uneven ground, obstructions, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Exposure to outdoor elements, noise, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
