Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Road and Highway Design Engineer to contribute to a variety of transportation projects. You will work with an ambitious team to develop roadway design plans, construction documents, and supporting technical reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and client interaction as projects advance through design and delivery phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or similar software.
• Basic understanding of roadway, highway, and transportation engineering principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform highway engineering duties applying engineering principles to roadway, highway, intersection, and multimodal projects.
• Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, reports, and project documentation.
• Develop roadway design plans and construction documents using Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads.

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Road and Highway Design Engineer to join our team! What You'll Be Doing

• Perform a variety of highway engineering duties by applying engineering principles to roadway, highway, intersection, and multimodal transportation projects.
• Assist in preparing engineering plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, technical reports, and supporting project documentation.
• Develop roadway design plans and construction documents utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and other engineering software.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including drainage, traffic, structures, utilities, and construction engineering.
• Participate in field reviews, site visits, and data collection activities to support project development and design validation.
• Support project delivery for local agency, county, state, and transportation authority clients through various phases of design and construction.
• Attend project meetings and interact directly with clients while developing communication, project management, and consulting skills.
• Support quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure project deliverables meet company and client standards.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or similar engineering software.
• Basic understanding of roadway, highway, and transportation engineering principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

• Familiarity with Caltrans standards, local agency requirements, MUTCD, Greenbook, and related transportation design guidelines.
• Experience preparing roadway plans, estimates, specifications, and technical reports.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary transportation projects involving traffic, drainage, utilities, and structures.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical submittals, and construction documents.
• Self-motivated team player committed to quality, continuous learning, and professional growth.

Salary Range:

$63,600.00 - $111,300.00
