Job summary

Burnet County is seeking a Road & Bridge Technician to assist the Road & Bridge team with maintenance of county roads and bridges. You will work closely with foremen to perform daily tasks and ensure safety and reliability of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities include operating equipment, installing and repairing traffic signs, mowing, trash removal, and reporting issues to the Assistant Foreman. A Texas CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must have valid Texas CDL or obtain CDL within 90 days of employment.
• Experience in equipment operation and road maintenance.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position works closely with the Road and Bridge Foreman and assistant Foreman in all County Road and Bridge assignments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Performs general maintenance on roads and bridges

• Operates machines/equipment to repair road surfaces
• Reports any and all issues immediately to the Assistant Foreman
• Mowing and trash removal
• Maintenance of county equipment and facilities

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• All duties as assigned by the Foreman or Assistant Foreman
• Ability to serve “on call” for emergency events (i.e.-Flooding, Wildfire, etc).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Must have valid Texas CDL or obtain CDL within 90 days of employment
• Experience in equipment operation
• Experience road maintenance preferred
