Full Time, 12/12 shift in the Emergency Room. ***Eligible for a commitment bonus of up to $15,000 if candidate has previous ED experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

Our Nursing team member’s primary goal is to provide the most remarkable patient experience while providing professional nursing services and patient care in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. The Registered Nurse follows the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of care given. The RN collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team to provide physical and psychological support to patients and families while adhering to hospital and departmental policies and nursing standards and practice. The Emergency Department RN provides care for patients with various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-saving conditions.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Recent emergency or critical care experience preferred.

License/Certifications:

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of NC.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • ACLS Certification obtained during orientation period.
  • PALS Certification obtained within 3 months.
  • TNCC Certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Emergency Department RN provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of the RN include (but are not limited to):

  1. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends.
  2. Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients.
  3. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  4. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
  5. Ensure safe operation of equipment.
  6. Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments specific to ER.
  7. Administer medications by using the electronic health record and scanning process.
  8. Document, monitor and report symptoms and changes in patient status.
  9. Provide patient education of illness/disease and promote health maintenance and disease prevention.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  12. Perform a head-to-toe assessment and reassessments on all age groups.
  13. Interact professionally with patient/family and provide explanation and verbal reassurance.
  14. Formulate and update an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  15. Assume the role of patient advocate.
  16. Comply with protocols, procedures, and policies.
  17. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, rhythm interruption and appropriate treatment.
  18. Prioritize nursing care and use critical thinking skills.
  19. Knowledge of proper dosing and administration of critical medications.
  20. Document all nursing care data concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner, using the appropriate format.
  21. Communicate appropriately and effectively with all hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians.
  22. Ability to be flexible organized and function under stressful and emergency situations.
  23. Exhibit professionalism at all times, showing respect and dignity to all.
  24. Participate with orientation and training of new personnel and act as a resource and mentor in a professional manner.
  25. Participate in special assignments and Quality Improvement projects.
  26. Comprehend the triage process and can quickly and accurately prioritize acuity of the patient based on physical, psychological and social needs.

Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.).
