Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. seeks a Registered Nurse First Assistant to support the surgeon during the intraoperative phase, applying perioperative nursing knowledge to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes. You will collaborate with the health care team and surgeon, while not acting as a scrub nurse.

The role requires RN licensure in NJ, RNFA program graduation, and AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, with strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program.
• Current NJ State Professional RN License.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA).
• ACLS Certification (AHA).
• PALS Certification (AHA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

The RN First Assist collaborates with the surgeon or obstetrician and the health care team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. The RN first assistant practices perioperative nursing and must have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment specific to clinical practice. The RN first assistant practices in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon or obstetrician during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. The RN first assistant does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse.

• Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program.

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current, unrestricted NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

• Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer platforms, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
• Certifications:
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
