Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines. Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room. Initiates the incident reporting mechanisms when indicated. Other duties as assigned. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating change, reporting information or concerns. Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations. Assists with the orientation of new employees and assumes unit responsibility when delegated by the nursing manager or director. Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role. Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient and updates preference cards as needed. Performs surgical counts per policy and prepares operating room setup. Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data, and knows the implied significance of each. Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately. Assures patients' right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
