Job summary

Terrana Biosciences is seeking a Research Associate I/II (Contract) in Cambridge, MA to join the IVT Production team. You will generate high-quality RNA materials to support discovery, platform development, and product advancement across the company.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S./M.S. in molecular biology or related field, with hands-on experience in PCR, cloning, IVT, and RNA QC. Strong record-keeping and collaborative skills are essential for a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, or a related field is required.
• RA I: B.S. plus up to 2 years in lab settings; RA II: B.S. with 2–4 years or M.S. with up to 2 years.
• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, nucleic acid handling, and gel electrophoresis.

Responsibilities

• Execute DNA assembly and cloning workflows for constructs supporting RNA production.
• Perform bacterial transformation, colony screening, plasmid prep, and sequence verification.
• Execute IVT workflows to produce RNA for R&D programs.
• Perform RNA synthesis, purification, quantification, and QC.
• Prepare DNA templates and reagents for IVT workflows.
• Conduct PCR, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid quantification.
• Maintain accurate experimental records and track samples in ELN/LIMS.
• Support high-throughput RNA production and ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Contribute to workflow optimization and lab organization.
• Collaborate with Molecular Biology, Discovery, Sequencing, and Bioinformatics teams.
