The wound care RN at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital provides patient care in an inpatient or observation setting, focusing on active treatment for injuries, illnesses, or post-intervention assessments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized care plans, evaluating progress towards expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity and build respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Advocate for patients and their families.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs and responses.
  5. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
  6. Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning.
  7. Model professional behavior and support hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Assess developmental needs across the lifespan and interpret patient data to meet age-specific requirements.
  9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Document patient care accurately, including assessments, education, treatments, and safety measures, meeting all standards.
  11. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  12. Prioritize patient care based on Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify and resolve problems effectively.
  14. Delegate tasks considering patient needs and team member capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient conditions and unit concerns effectively to the team.
  16. Provide compassionate, therapeutic care environments.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Support the onboarding and transition of new team members and students.
  19. Maintain punctuality and attendance per hospital policies and standards.
  20. Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Graduate of an approved nursing school.
  • Meet all competency requirements for Orlando Health and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for specific areas; NRP for NICU.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of RN wound care experience required unless approved at the AVP level or higher.
