This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. It involves effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members; assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibiting sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; maintaining involvement in activities aimed at achieving unit and department goals; demonstrating professional responsibility and accountability; and supporting the company's nursing philosophy.

Education

Required - Registered nursing diploma.
Preferred - Associate's degree in nursing.

Work Experience

Required - None.
Preferred - Experience supervising or managing others.

Certifications

Required - Current RN license in the state of practice.
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred - Certification in a clinical specialty area.

Job Duties

  • Use the nursing process effectively in patient care.
  • Assess learning needs and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources properly; serve as a leader in the interdisciplinary team.
  • Use data and information to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale, and improve nursing profession standards.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, explaining procedures clearly, and obtaining permissions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
