Job summary

Freeman Health System in Joplin, MO, is seeking a part-time clinic nurse to deliver patient care through the nursing process, assess needs, plan, implement, and evaluate care, and coordinate with physicians and staff.

You’ll maintain exam rooms, prepare supplies, administer medications, educate patients, document in the patient data system, and ensure chart accuracy. A MO RN license and BLS are required or within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in MO or compact state.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days.
  • BSN preferred or higher education in nursing.

What You’ll Do

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for directing, coordinating and nursing care based on established clinical nursing practices. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assesses clinical needs of patient. Updates patient records as needed.
  • Demonstrates responsible decision making in planning, providing, and delegating care based on assessment.
  • Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, physicians and administration.
  • Follows through on problems that may compromise patient care by using the appropriate chain of command.
  • The clinic nurse assists physicians, nurse practitioners and other staff in coordinating patient care and functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials; ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Administers prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Efficiently utilizes the clinics patient data management system (electronic or manual) to maintain accurate patient records and utilizes NHS interface in a proficient manner.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information to enter into the record, assuring chart is accurate and complete prior to date of appointment.
  • Updates patient record information changes, using department charting guidelines.
  • Completes paperwork accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
  • Safely administers any medications using the 5 rights: prepares, gives, and documents medications and IV solutions.
  • Maintains current medication profiles and documents medication profiles and documents medication instruction to patient/caregiver.
  • Demonstrates population appropriate care and skill sets for all patient populations.
  • Performs prescribed/ordered treatments timely and without errors.
  • Complies with professional standards of practice and expected standards of care: Knows and adheres to the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Communicates pertinent data concerning the clients status and changes in plan of care with members of the health team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Under minimum direction is responsible for: assessment, documentation, and disposition of all designated incoming ICD and Emergency telephone calls.
  • Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements. Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
  • Clinic Competency Assessment annually by transcript due date.
  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
Education and Experience

Education: Minimal: Graduate of an accredited RN program Preferred: BSN

Experience: Minimal: Preferred: 1 year clinic experience
