Job summary

UCLA Health seeks an experienced Operating Room/GI Lab nurse to function as scrub and circulating personnel in the Main Operating Room and procedural areas. You will utilize aseptic techniques, manage surgical instrumentation, and support perioperative procedures with strong critical thinking and time management.

The role includes administrative and teaching duties, inventory management, and documentation, with a focus on patient safety and infection control.

Qualifications

• Current valid California RN License.
• BSN or MSN required.
• 2 years of previous OR/GI RN experience (circulating and tech experience in hospital setting preferred).
• BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart association required.
• ACLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Flexible and able to take required call.
• Ability to push, pull, lift, up to 35 lbs

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, function primarily as a scrub and/or circulating nurse within the Main Operating Room, MPU-GI Lab and Procedural rooms. In depth knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative procedures. Administrative and teaching responsibilities to be performed as necessary, including inventory, instrument set ups and chart reviews. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and time management skills. Implement appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis, relevant to an operating room arena, MPU and procedural areas. Inherent duties includes, but not limited to, proper care of instrumentation and equipment, utilization of all safety measures and accurate completion of documentation. Commitment to patient safety and infection control protocol
