Job summary

Rossville Healthcare & Rehab Center is seeking an Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional leadership and oversee staff in resident care. You will ensure high-quality care by following policies and the guidance of the Director of Nursing, while coordinating admissions, discharges and daily nursing activities.

You will supervise care delivery, administer medications, and collaborate with consultants to improve resident outcomes, reporting to the DON and maintaining thorough shift-to-shift

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Kansas RN licensure.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and ability to collaborate with staff.
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.

Responsibilities

  • Complete RN record-keeping forms during admission, discharge, transfer and other events, with proper filing or forwarding to the relevant department.
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Facilitate admission, transfer and discharge planning, including transportation arrangements.
  • Provide professional nursing procedures in line with facility policies (catheterization, tube feeding, suction, wound care, specimen collection, etc.).
  • Collaborate with facility consultants and implement changes under the DON guidance.
  • Investigate and address complaints and grievances, with reports to the DON.
  • Exchange nursing reports at start and end of shifts.
  • Conduct daily resident checks to ensure prescribed treatments are followed and assess physical and emotional well-being.
  • Keep the DON informed about resident and staff status.

Position Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a pivotal role in our healthcare team by overseeing staff assignments and providing comprehensive supervision of resident care. Your responsibilities encompass ensuring the highest degree of quality resident care by adhering to established policies and procedures, as well as following the guidance of the Director of Nursing (DON).

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Educational Background: A graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a recognized Registered Nurse (RN) program with a current licensure in the state of Kansas.
  • Leadership Skills: Possess strong leadership abilities and a willingness to collaborate with both professional and nonprofessional personnel.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
  • Complete all required Registered Nurse (RN) record-keeping forms and charts during a resident's admission, discharge, transfer, and other important events. Ensure that these records are appropriately filed in the resident's chart and/or forwarded to the relevant department.
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Facilitate the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents, including making necessary arrangements for transportation and packing.
  • Administer professional services, including but not limited to catheterization, tube feeding, suction, wound care, specimen collection, and other medical procedures as outlined by the facility's policies and procedures.
Supervision
  • Collaborate with the facility's consultants as required and implement recommended changes under the guidance of the Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Investigate and address complaints and grievances, providing necessary oral and written reports to the DON.
  • Exchange nursing reports at the beginning and end of your shift duty hours.
  • Conduct daily checks on all residents to ensure that prescribed treatments are administered correctly by nursing personnel/assistants and to assess their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Keep the DON informed about the status of residents, staff, and related matters.
