Job Summary

Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates extensively with the other members of the healthcare team, patients, and/or patient's family or significant others. Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Performs an assessment of the patient, leading to development, implementation, and evaluation of a plan of care.
  2. Administers, monitors, and documents therapeutic interventions and regimes.
  3. Effectively manages rapidly changing situations.
  4. Participates in clinical decision-making.
  5. Educates patient and family/responsible party regarding disease process, individual care needs, wellness, safety issues, etc.
  6. Delegates and monitors care rendered by other members of nursing department and healthcare team.
  7. Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
  8. Participates in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
  9. Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities.
  10. Maintains professional and departmental level competencies.
Qualifications and Experience

Must have a valid NJ RN License, which must be presented and maintained per the State of New Jersey licensing board. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards. Continually updates skills and stays current through ongoing education and journals. Must have strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate efforts of a team of care providers.
