Job summary

Presbyterian Village North in Dallas, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for Weekend Doubles - Charge Nurse in the Skilled Nursing Department. This FT role covers Saturdays and Sundays, 6:45am–11:15pm under a 32/40 plan, providing leadership and clinical oversight.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate supervisory skills, strong nursing theory knowledge, and solid technical and communication abilities while ensuring high-quality resident care and safety across all units.

  • Demonstrated supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Knowledge of current professional nursing theory and practice.
  • Excellent technical, assessment and documented skills.
  • Ability to organize workflow, respond to emergencies and note detail.
  • Ability to perform Essential Duties.
  • Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, persons with disability and hospice patients.

Responsibilities

  • Models a service and solutions oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better.
  • Is responsible for health care management of the campus to include, independent and assisted living, health unit and special care
  • Makes rounds in all buildings, ensures staffing is appropriate and residents are taken care of
  • Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate departmental staff (management staff only)
  • Assessment of high risk resident for pressure sores, restraints, weight changes, and other preventative care as outlined in the resident plan of care
  • Assess residents and completes MDS according to facility policy
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition, ensure MD, family, and Director of Nursing are notified and appropriate documentation is reflected in the medical record
  • Attend all assigned committee meetings, according to Director of Nursing directives
  • Review incident report documentation and ensures follow-up according to facility policy
  • Perform charge nurse duties, in cases of staffing emergencies, as required to meet the resident's immediate needs
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assess residents and completes MDS according to facility policy
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition, ensure MD, family, and Director of Nursing are notified and appropriate documentation is reflected in the medical record
  • Assess and make recommendations for significant change in conditions for MDS TILE and resident plan of care
  • Maintains the Resident's Roster and Acuity Levels within the department (i.e. State Boards, QA monitors)
  • Review and follow-up all consultant reports in a timely manner
  • Complete evaluations of all licensed nurses and assist with CNA evaluations on assigned unit
  • Notify Director of Nursing and Director of Healthcare of incident reports concerning abuse
  • Thoroughly investigate any complaints and concerns and report to Director of Nursing
  • Attend all assigned committee meetings, according to Director of Nursing directives
  • Review incident report documentation and ensures follow-up according to facility policy
  • Make rounds to verify clinical compliance and quality of care and provide couching and disciplinary action as indicated within the facilities policies and procedures
  • Ensures all life enrichment programs/QA monitors are implemented on assigned unit
  • Perform charge nurse duties, in cases of staffing emergencies, as required to meet the resident's immediate needs
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated supervisory and managerial skills
  • Knowledge of current professional nursing theory and practice
  • Excellent technical, assessment and documented skills
  • Ability to organize workflow, respond to emergencies and note detail
  • Ability to perform Essential Duties
  • Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, persons with disability and hospice patients
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements
  • Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights (LTC) and Employee Responsibilities
  • Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain a positive, stable disposition in performing work in association with staff and residents
  • Ability to maintain a high level of performance in an environment of frequent demands and changes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think clearly in situations where they are the highest ranking person at the facility
  • Articulate, ability to work with a number of different positions and different levels of staff
