The Unit: The Vascular Access Team at AGH is a highly skilled team of nurses responsible for assisting and gaining access to a patient's circulatory system.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical assessments and care planning.
  • Provide safe, effective care according to regulatory standards for the patient population served.
  • Manage and direct patient care activities of team members professionally.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team from admission to discharge.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and families; provide education tailored to age, culture, and willingness to learn.
  • Insert peripheral IVs.
  • Insert midline catheters.
  • Participate in PICC line insertion team.
  • Perform ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertions.
  • Contribute to data collection for quality and surveillance.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current PA RN license in good standing.
  • At least two years of recent nursing experience.
  • Proficient in peripheral IV insertion.
  • Willing to obtain certification within three years.
  • BLS certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance.
  • Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC.
  • CPR certification.
