Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Staff Nurse to deliver safe, compassionate care across patient populations. You will plan, implement, and evaluate care plans, collaborating with nurses, physicians, and the clinical team to ensure optimal outcomes and continuity of care.

The role requires a BSN, IL RN license, ACLS/BLS, and 1 year ICU/ER or wound/ostomy experience; radiology nursing experience is a plus. Weekend/shift flexibility and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • 1 year ICU or ER experience preferred.
  • 1 year radiology nursing experience preferred.
  • 1 year wound/ostomy experience preferred.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • Illinois RN license active and in good standing.
  • CWON or CWCN certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a plan of care and evaluates patient progress.
  • Performs patient assessment and data collection with family and care team.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient/family and documents data.
  • Provides individualized teaching based on assessment.
  • Collaborates with peers and mentors in clinical education.
  • Maintains a compassionate environment and supports patients.
  • Assists with contrast injection, venipuncture, and IV management if skilled.
  • Participates in performance improvement and nursing research.
  • Keeps abreast of wound/ostomy care trends through education and networking.
  • Assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.

Hourly Pay Range:

$37.25 - $57.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

A Brief Overview:

The Staff Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The Staff Nurse will collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

What you will do:
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient's wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient's cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
  • Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
What you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree Nursing Required
  • 1 Year ICU or ER experience, preferred And
  • 1 Year radiology nursing experience, preferred And
  • 1 Year Wound/ostomy experience, preferred And
  • Successful completion of Wound Ostomy Associate class, preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Active Illinois State Nursing License Required And
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) Required And
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - NationalCPRFoundation (NCPRF) Required And
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) Preferred Or
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) Preferred
