Job summary

A healthcare organization is looking for an experienced Unit Manager for their Worcester, MA location. The ideal candidate must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing with an active MA nursing license and at least a year of supervisory experience in patient care management. Responsibilities include managing the care of residents on a specialized Vent unit, providing staff guidance, supporting residents and families, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Qualifications

• Must have active MA nursing license.
• At least 1 year experience in a charge nurse or supervisor role.
• Experience with traumatic brain injury and/or psych preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall care and dignity of residents on a specialized Vent unit.
• Provide guidance to ancillary staff on clinical and personnel issues.
• Support residents and families on clinical challenges, and resolve grievances.
• Ensure sufficient staff for regulatory requirements and clinical needs.
• Review prospective admissions as needed.
• Ensure staff comply with Infection Control and Safety principles.
• Investigate accidents/incidents and provide first aid as necessary.
• Develop supervisory reports regarding pertinent issues.
• Review clinical records for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform quarterly assessments on assigned patients/residents.
• Oversee compliance of all care provided on the unit.
• Leads CNAs on each unit to support quality care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages the overall care and dignity of residents on a specialized Vent unit.
• Provides guidance and direction to ancillary staff in both clinical and personnel issues
• Provides support and guidance to residents and families on clinical issues and challenges. Assists in resolution of concerns and grievances voiced by either party.
• Ensures that sufficient staff is available to meet the regulatory requirements and clinical needs of the patients/residents in the facility.
• Review perspective admissions if required for determination of needs.
• Ensures that all staff abides by the principles and techniques of Infection Control and Safety by providing an environment that is clean, safe, and comfortable for the residents.
• Investigates accidents and incidents related to patients/residents, staff or visitors and provides first aid and follow up as indicated.
• Develops a supervisory report to the DON/ADON regarding pertinent issues.
• Reviews the clinical record of each patient/resident to ensure it is accurate and complete.
• Performs assessments on patients/residents assigned to the unit on a quarterly basis (includes Skin, Falls, Sr, B&B, Elopement, etc)
• Oversight of all care provided on the unit/ensures all rules and regulations are in compliance.
• Lead CNA's on every unit to support quality care.
