Job summary

Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehab is seeking an RN/LPN Unit Manager to oversee nursing care for residents and supervise nursing assistants. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards while maintaining high-quality care and patient safety.

Responsibilities include coordinating care plans, administering medications, educating patients, monitoring equipment, and supporting discharge planning. Virginia RN/LPN license and CPR are required; Associates degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia RN/LPN license.
• First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities.
• Prepare and administer medications and record administration.
• Educate patients on procedures and monitor vital signs.
• Monitor equipment and interpret displays; intervene as needed.
• Initiate corrective action when adverse symptoms occur.
• Provide bedside care for varied medical patients, including pre/post-surgery.
• Change dressings, start IVs, participate in discharge planning.
• Record care information accurately and timely.

Job Description of the RN Unit Manager:

Summary: Provide direct nursing care to the residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may also be required by the Director of Nursing to maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.

What you will do as the RN/LPN Unit Manager:

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Prepare and administer (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, starts IVs Participate in discharge planning.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
