Job summary

Qualifications

  • Valid Oklahoma RN license or eNLC-recognized license with 3 years of nursing experience, including 1 year in supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing with 2 years of experience, at least 1 year supervisory.
  • Master's degree with 1 year supervisory nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage staff, programs, facilities, or areas providing health services.
  • Plan, organize, and direct health services for an assigned program or geographic area.
  • Ensure goals and quality-care requirements are met.
  • Select, mentor, motivate, develop, and evaluate staff.
  • Establish and track quality improvement indicators and service information.
  • Devise health-related educational programs for staff as needed.
  • Participate in long-range health-care program planning.
  • Interpret and communicate agency policies and procedures.
  • Develop policies and procedures and assign responsibilities.
  • Analyze reports and coordinate quality-improvement activities in patient care and safety.
  • Develop budget estimates, monitor expenditures, and ensure budget compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations and staffing.
  • Evaluate staff performance to ensure quality of care.
  • Cover for Nurse Manager II in their absence as needed.

Job description

  • Supervise and manage staff, programs, units, facilities, or statewide geographical areas providing direct or indirect health services
  • Plan, organize, and direct health services for an assigned program, unit, facility, hospital, or geographical area
  • Ensure goals, objectives, standards, and quality-care requirements are met
  • Select, mentor, motivate, develop, and evaluate staff
  • Establish and track quality improvement indicators and service information
  • Devise health-related educational programs for professional and non-professional staff as needed
  • Participate in and collaborate on long-range health-care program planning
  • Interpret and communicate agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Establish responsibilities and assignments and develop or implement policies and procedures
  • Analyze reports and coordinate quality-improvement activities concerning patient care, equipment, environmental health and safety, and related services
  • Develop budget estimates, approve or monitor expenditures and purchases, and ensure budget compliance
  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations and staffing
  • Evaluate assigned staff performance to ensure quality of care
  • Cover for the Nurse Manager II in their absence as needed
Requirements
  • Valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC), and three years of professional nursing experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and two years of professional nursing experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Master’s degree and one year of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques
  • Knowledge of expense control and purchasing procedures
  • Knowledge of nursing department philosophy and objectives
  • Knowledge of effective supervision principles and practices
  • Ability to direct, motivate, and evaluate staff
  • Ability to plan and implement programs
  • Ability to develop controls to monitor program effectivenessAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
