Overview

RN Unit Manager – Skilled Nursing & Long Term Care

Elderwood at Williamsville

Salary: up to $105,000/year based on experience

Lead a Unit. Develop a Team. Strengthen Clinical Care.

Elderwood is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Unit Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership for one of our nursing units.

This is a visible, hands‑on leadership position for an RN who can bring structure, accountability, sound clinical judgment, and consistent support to a nursing team. You will partner closely with the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, providers, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to strengthen nursing practice and resident outcomes.

You will have meaningful accountability for your unit - but you will not be expected to lead without support. Elderwood's facility leaders are backed by experienced onsite leadership and the broader clinical resources of Elderwood Administrative Services.

More Than Traditional Long-Term Care

Elderwood is a 200-bed skilled nursing community providing long-term care, memory care, and comprehensive subacute rehabilitation. We also have WNY's only non-hospital ventilator unit.

Our clinical environment serves residents with diverse long-term needs as well as short-stay patients transitioning from hospital to home following illness, injury, surgery, orthopedic procedures, and cardiac conditions. Facility capabilities include:

  • IV therapy
  • PICC-line management
  • Wound-vac therapy
  • Complex wound care
  • Ostomy care
  • Enteral feeding
  • Dialysis coordination

This clinical variety creates an engaging post-acute environment for nurse leaders who want to strengthen employee competencies, support complex care, and help patients make measurable progress toward recovery. It offers elements of med-surg-style clinical variety along with the continuity and resident relationships found in skilled nursing.

Lead With Support Behind You

As RN Unit Manager, you will provide 24-hour oversight and accountability for your assigned unit while working primarily on a generally day-shift schedule with flexibility based on facility and unit needs.

Facility clinical teams receive support from Elderwood Administrative Services, including organization-wide clinical leadership from the Chief Nursing Officer and an assigned Regional Nurse Consultant who serves as a resource to facility leaders. The Regional Nurse Consultant partners with the DON, ADON, Administrator, and clinical team to provide guidance, share best practices, help navigate complex challenges, and support priorities related to quality, regulatory readiness, clinical operations, and nursing leadership development.

This structure gives you the opportunity to lead locally while benefiting from the experience, perspective, and resources of a larger clinical organization.

Build the Next Stage of Your Nursing Leadership Career

Elderwood is committed to identifying and developing the next generation of clinical leaders. Nurses who demonstrate strong performance, leadership potential, and an interest in future Director of Nursing opportunities may be considered for advanced development experiences, including Widener University’s Director of Nursing Leadership Academy.

Designed for current and aspiring DONs, the 12-week academy combines online learning, leadership coaching, faculty mentorship, and in-person applied workshops. Its curriculum addresses the practical demands of nursing leadership, including communication, decision-making, team development, retention, financial fundamentals, strategic planning, and change management.

If you are ready to lead a unit today while preparing for greater clinical leadership responsibility in the future, Elderwood at Williamsville offers an environment where your potential can be recognized, developed, and supported.

Take the Next Step

This is an opportunity to lead more than a schedule or a set of clinical tasks. You will help build a stronger team, establish consistent nursing practice, and create an environment where employees can succeed and residents can receive responsive, high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Assure responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a residents’ nursing care plan, and the coordination of the interdisciplinary goals and approaches to the needs or health care problems of residents.
