Job summary

Birmingham Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced Unit Manager to lead a nursing unit with heart and focus on patient-centered care.

You will set the tone, coach LPNs and CNAs, maintain care plans, collaborate with physicians, ensure documentation accuracy, and prepare for surveys. A current Alabama RN license and 2+ years of leadership in long-term care are required.

Qualifications

• A current, active RN license in Alabama.
• At least two years of nursing experience — long-term care or skilled nursing is a big plus.
• Some experience leading a team or running a shift.
• A solid handle on CMS rules, the survey process, and good documentation.
• Steady leadership, clear communication, and calm under pressure.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Run the day-to-day on your unit and keep care running smoothly.
• Lead, coach, and back up your LPNs and CNAs — the good managers are the ones their staff actually want to work for.
• Stay close to your residents: assess them, keep care plans current, and catch changes early.
• Work alongside physicians and the rest of the team to make the right calls.
• Keep documentation accurate and stay ready for surveys and audits.
• Watch staffing and assignments so your team has the coverage it needs.
• Be the steady point of contact for residents and their families.
