Job summary

The Urology RN at CARTI provides direct patient care in the ambulatory setting, following nursing processes and the Uro-Oncology care standards. The RN coordinates care, educates patients and families, and communicates with physicians to ensure safe, evidence-based practice.

Requirements include ADN/BSN, Arkansas license, BLS, and chemotherapy certification within 90 days. Travel may be required within Central Arkansas.

Qualifications

  • Active Arkansas RN license and BLS certification.
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Chemotherapy certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license if travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in ambulatory setting using nursing process.
  • Maintain standards of care for Uro-Oncology.
  • Triage and manage unstable or complex patient situations.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures, medications, nutrition, wellness.
  • Document in EMR and maintain patient confidentiality.

JOB SUMMARY

The Urology RN is a licensed registered professional nurse who is a clinical expert who provides ethical, evidence-based, safe compassionate nursing care. The Urology focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family by focusing on identifying the needs of the patient, education, patient advocacy, coordination of care and evaluating outcomes. The RN will function within the CARTI values, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The Urology RN will provide support to their assigned physician(s) by communicating with the patient and family, while providing nursing support and services during clinic. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, both written, verbal and non-verbal.

Job Description
  • Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
  • Maintains standards of care relevant to Uro-Oncology.
  • Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
  • Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
  • Responsible for management of patient coordination, triage, and direct patient care.
  • Liaison of communication between nursing staff, providers, and clinic staff.
  • Support patient self-management of disease.
  • Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
  • Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.
  • Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
  • In providing patient care, document using EMR to maintain and/or develop patient records in compliance with practice standards
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
Education, Certification, Licensure, Registration
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited College of Nursing
  • BLS Certified
  • Valid and current Arkansas state nursing license
  • Chemotherapy Certification (required within 90 days of employment)
  • Valid Arkansas Driver’s License (if travel is required)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • 2-5 years’ clinical experience in direct patient care preferred
  • Maintain required number of continuing education units (CEU’s) as specified by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
  • Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills
  • Expertise in IV therapy skills and injections
  • Urology and/or Procedural experience preferred
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require additional hours outside the normal 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday work schedule and occasional travel throughout Central Arkansas.
