Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health seeks a Trauma Coordinator RN to support Trauma Services, elevate trauma expertise, and lead injury prevention aligned with our mission. You will oversee Outreach and Injury Prevention, liaise with EMS and regional committees, and coordinate the entire trauma program for Level III centers to ensure safety and performance improvement.

The role emphasizes leadership, program management, and strong communication to advance trauma care quality and ACS verification

Qualifications

  • BSN required with four years of related trauma/critical care experience.
  • Registered Nurse license in WA at hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course Instructor certification at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and evaluates resources and activities to meet trauma service regulatory/designation requirements.
  • Develops and reviews policies and protocols for trauma patient care to comply with standards.
  • Consults with trauma care practitioners and resolves related issues.
  • Manages the trauma quality improvement program with Trauma Medical Director collaboration.
  • Assists in QA/I activities related to the trauma system and performance improvement.
  • Monitors trauma clinical indicators and program effectiveness.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Trauma Coordinator RN, you will directly support Trauma Services and enhance patient care, elevating trauma expertise and leading injury prevention efforts aligned with our mission.

Every day you will oversee the Outreach and Injury Prevention Program, acting as primary liaison for EMS, referral facilities, and regional committees, per ACS requirements. For Level III centers, you'll coordinate the entire trauma program, including safety and performance improvement. Your focus will be on maintaining quality, community education, and strengthening regional ties.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, program management, and communication skills. A deep commitment to trauma care improvement, patient safety, and meeting ACS verification standards is essential.

  • Coordinates and evaluates the resources, services and activities necessary to ensure that the trauma service(s) at the assigned sites meet regulatory and/or designation requirements.
  • Develops and reviews policies, procedures and protocols in relation to the care of trauma patients to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Consults with trauma care practitioners in the care of trauma patients; participates in problem-solving processes to address and resolve related issues.
  • Coordinates the trauma quality improvement program (in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director) by monitoring the quality/appropriateness of care.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of quality assurance and improvement activities related to the trauma system.
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of trauma clinical indicators.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors Of Science Nursing and four years of recent related work experience preferably in an acute care hospital in Emergency, Trauma or Critical Care nursing that demonstrates the attainment of the requisite job knowledge, skills/abilities. , upon hire
