Cook Children's Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse to join the Transport team. The RN, Transport will care for neonatal and pediatric patients across ground, rotor wing, and fixed wing missions, collaborating with RTs and Paramedics to ensure safe, timely transport.

The role requires a Texas nursing license and at least 3 years in neonatal/pediatric ICU or emergency transport, with ongoing certification attainment including PALS, NRP, ACLS, and TNCC as needed.

Qualifications

• RN license in Texas required.
• Minimum 3 years neonatal/pediatric ICU or ED transport experience.
• CPR, PALS (or obtainable within 6 months); NRP, ACLS, TNCC or equivalent; STABLE or equivalent within 6–12 months; EMT/Paramedic license in TX or obtainable within 12 months; Advanced Certification as approved.

Summary:

The RN, Transport will function as a team member while upholding the mission, vision and values of Cook Children's Health Care System. This person will work in collaboration with RTs and Paramedics, in providing cares to the Neonatal and Pediatric population in all modes of transport, including ground ambulance, rotor wing and fixed wing aircraft. This person must possess critical thinking skills while practicing sound judgement throughout the transport process in varied settings. The RN, Transport will be self-motivated and demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills.

Shift: 7p - 7a

Our Transport team at Cook Children's is a highly specialized team that cares for the highest acuity of neonatal and pediatric patients.

We currently have 8 ambulances, 1 helicopter and 2 jets.

Orientation is approximately 6 months.

No On-Call but every other weekend requirements.

Weight requirement is <250 lbs with all gear.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Minimum of 3 year recent Neonatal and/or Pediatric ICU and/or Pediatric Emergency Department experience or current Neonatal/Pediatric Transport experience.

Certification/Licensure:

Current license to practice professional Nursing in State of Texas. Current CPR. Current PALS or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Current NRP or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Current ACLS or must obtain within 6 months of hire. Current TNCC or Department approved equivalent or must obtain within 12 months of hire. Current STABLE or obtain within 6 months of hire. Current EMT or Paramedic license in the State of Texas or must obtain within 12 months of hire. Current Advanced Certification (in area of practice and/or as approved by CCMC) or must obtain within 24 months of hire.
