Department Overview

Nurses in the Telehealth Nursing department demonstrate strong competency in using various telecommunication technologies to provide direct virtual nursing care. Telehealth Nursing RNs triage, prioritize patient needs, collaborate with patients to develop care plans, direct them to the appropriate level of care, and provide referrals to Emory services and other resources to ensure a comprehensive care experience. Telehealth Nursing LPNs assist patients with prescription management across specialties.

Description

We are seeking a capable Registered Nurse / RN with broad experience in patient care and a solid understanding of the care of a specific patient population.

• The Virtual/Telehealth Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality patient care via virtual platforms.
• Utilizes clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence-based practices to assess, triage, and support patients remotely.
• Proficiency in telecommunication technologies, applying clinical algorithms and protocols, and understanding virtual care workflows are essential.

Patient Care & Telehealth Services

• Conduct remote assessments, triage, crisis intervention, and education via various digital platforms.
• Develop individualized care plans with patients and providers.
• Use clinical algorithms within the EMR to determine patient disposition.
• Schedule patients for appropriate levels of care based on triage findings.
• Assist with prescriptions, referrals, and connecting patients to services and resources.

Communication & Collaboration

• Serve as a liaison among patients, providers, and the healthcare team.
• Resolve medication and pharmacy issues with provider coordination.
• Educate patients on care plans and promote health outcomes.
• De-escalate calls for effective resolutions.

Documentation & Compliance

• Accurately document interactions and interventions in the EMR.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Report safety and quality concerns.
• Follow the ANA Code of Ethics and institutional policies.

Professional Development & Training

• Participate in ongoing telehealth nursing training.
• Mentor new team members and staff.
• Stay updated on policies and system changes.

Administrative & Operational Support

• Attend meetings and support telehealth operations.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSN graduate with 12 months recent nursing experience or re-entry program completion.
• OR ADN graduate with at least 2 years recent experience.
• Current multistate RN license (eNLC) within 60 days.
• BLS certification.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with EMR, e-prescribing, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• MSN or DNP degree.
