JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the RN Surgical Services Resource Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional quality care by nursing and support staff throughout every critical stage of the surgical process. This includes thorough patient preparation before surgery and effective monitoring and support during post-operative recovery. The primary focus of the RN Coordinator is to lead, guide, and supervise all staff members involved in Surgical Services. This supervision will comply with current Federal, State, and Local standards, as well as guidelines and regulations that govern our facility. A key priority for this leadership role will be the continuous evaluation and reevaluation of our care delivery in each surgical area. Outstanding perioperative care will drive the supervisory functions of this position.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Performance Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations of nursing and support staff during their initial hiring phase and annually thereafter.
  2. Subject Matter Expertise: Provide rigorous education and facilitate vital information sharing amongst all staff levels.
  3. Direct Patient Care: Administer treatments and procedures as directed by the physician.
  4. Documentation and Compliance: Meticulously document nursing care by strictly following comprehensive charting guidelines.
  5. Patient Care Experience Evaluation: Regularly evaluate patient care experience and develop actionable recommendations.
  6. Policy Review and Implementation: Review and update department policies and procedures.
  7. Resource for Staff: Act as a reliable resource for staff regarding surgical services policies.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all department personnel comply with necessary regulatory and legal requirements.
  9. Forms Evaluation and Modification: Ongoing evaluation of all relevant pre-and post-operative forms.
  10. Staff Training and Education: Lead training initiatives to educate staff on new processes.
  11. Collaborative Quality Improvement: Collaborate with leadership to implement quality improvement initiatives.
  12. Patient Communication: Communicate effectively with patients and family members.
  13. Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams for seamless care delivery.
  14. Stay Current with Industry Trends: Stay informed about the latest industry trends and best practices.
  15. Operational Efficiency Projects: Coordinate and lead projects aimed at improving operational efficiency.
  16. Ethics and Confidentiality: Uphold the highest legal and ethical standards regarding patient confidentiality.
  17. Additional Duties: Expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Inventory Management Responsibilities
  1. Establishing Supply and Equipment Levels: Develop and maintain optimal inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  2. Ordering Supplies: Take responsibility for ordering all necessary supplies for the OR.
  3. Managing Returns and Shipments: Prepare goods for return when necessary.
  4. Maintaining PAR Stock Levels: Work closely with staff members to establish par stock levels.
  5. Biannual Inventory Coordination: Coordinate and participate in a comprehensive inventory check biannually.
  6. Invoice Management: Match billing invoices against received goods and services.
  7. Communication and Support: Engage with physicians and nursing staff to assess special product or equipment needs.
Requirements

Minimum Level of Education: Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN or MSN preferred.

Formal Training: Extensive expertise in medical terminology and a deep understanding of surgical services.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain an unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse license.

Work Experience: 2-3 years of related supervisory experience in healthcare.

Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
