Job Summary and Qualifications

Perform direct patient care within the scope of the RN Practice Act, focusing on Peri-operative Patients/Surgical Services. Use therapeutic communication daily.

  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic OR and pre-surgical environment.
  • Implement and evaluate care using the nursing process, emphasizing individual patient needs.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families for informed healthcare decisions.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Participate in initiatives and process improvements specific to Surgical Services.
  • Support a positive OR environment and supervise new staff and trainees.
  • Provide high-quality care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Support organizational mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide pre- and post-surgical care for patients of all ages receiving various anesthesia types.
  • Monitor airway, pain, interpret EKG and lab results, and manage high-risk therapies.
  • Develop surgical care plans throughout the continuum, potentially including conscious sedation and blood product administration after competency verification.
  • Propose pre- and post-operative care plans.

Qualifications Needed

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
  • RN license in Texas or a compact state.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Surgical Services experience.
