Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. is seeking a perioperative RN with RNFA credentials to join our CT surgery team. The role involves assisting surgeons during operations, participating in perioperative assessments, and involved in postoperative rounds.

Florida RN licensure and BLS are required. Two years of perioperative nursing experience are required, with two extra years in perioperative first assistance preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing is required.
• RN First Assistant (RNFA) program accredited by AORN is required.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
• Two years perioperative nursing experience required.
• Two years perioperative first assistance experience preferred.
• Active RN license in Florida and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Dedicated to CT Surgery, participates in perioperative assessments.
• Assists surgeons during surgical or invasive procedures under supervision.
• Participates in postoperative rounds and treatments; evaluates progress.
• Educates patients and families according to knowledge level.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Associate degree in nursing.
• Successful completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program accredited by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Required Experience:

• Two (2) years of perioperative registered nursing experience.

Preferred Experience:

• Two (2) years of perioperative first assistance experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

• Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure].
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) certified instructor.

Preferred Certification/License/Registry:

• One or more of the following:
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential from AORN.
  • Registered Nurse Assistant at Surgery (RNAS-C) credential from the National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC).
  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) credential from NASC.

Responsibilities

Your Role:

• Dedicated to CT Surgery, in collaboration with the surgical team (and others), participates in surgical patients' perioperative assessments.
• Assists surgeons (under direction/supervision of the same) during surgical or invasive operative procedures.
• Participates in postoperative rounds and treatments; evaluates patients' progress toward obtaining desired outcomes.
• Assess patients' and/or family members' knowledge level; provides appropriate education to same.
• Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.
