Job summary

Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX seeks an operating room nurse to provide direct intra-operative patient care and pre/post-operative assessment. The role requires a Texas RN license, BLS, and prior OR experience.

You will participate in infection control, support anesthesia teams, and assist with instrument handling and sterilization. A rotating on-call schedule applies, and the hospital emphasizes compassionate care and team collaboration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Provides direct care to surgical patients with primary emphasis on the intra-operative period and responsibility for pre-operative assessment and post-operative evaluation while applying age-specific needs in the assessment, treatment, and/or care of patients. Possesses substantial knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of the biological, psychological, behavioral, and social sciences. Must take call on a rotating basis.

Job Specific:

• Participates in the safety management and infection control programs (EF).
• Performs, supervises, and/or directs the nursing care of the patient by performing the duties of the circulating nurse based upon hospital policies / procedures and the AORN Standards (EF).
• Directs and/or assists, as necessary, with the cleaning, sterilization, and storage of instruments, equipment and supplies (EF).
• Administers medications, starts intravenous infusions, and assists anesthesia personnel as needed (EF).
• Assists with the orientation of new personnel (EF).
• Takes call as assigned (EF).

Hospital:

• Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
• Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
• Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
• Performs withinprofessional Scope of Practice at all times.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
