Job summary

ScionHealth is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Surgery (RN-Surgery) to provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients in an acute care hospital setting in Watertown, WI.

The RN-Surgery will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, covering perioperative care for all ages and ensuring safety, comfort, and education throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient-centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy.
• Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately.
• Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family.
• Coordinates and collaborates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
• Participates in patient transfer, discharge, and referrals as needed.
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout the surgical experience.

Job Summary

Utilizing the nursing process, the RN-Surgery assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes. Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within timeframe specified in facility policy)

Experience

• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred
