Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the surgical area.
• Direct the daily operations of the department including staff scheduling, ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care.
• Develop new methods to improve existing systems or operations.
• Assess developmental needs of staff and develop continuing education and quality assurance programs to optimize patient care.
• Research supplies, instruments and equipment and recommend purchases to the Director.
• Assist in the selection, training and evaluation of subordinates and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and organization philosophy.
• Maintain the necessary level of professional knowledge and technical proficiency in areas of functional responsibility.
• Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
• Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit.

Kindred Hospital San Diego is a 70-bed long-term acute care hospital offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. We partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. For those who need special care, we offer an eight-bed ICU and two negative-pressure rooms. We are located just outside of downtown San Diego, less than two miles north of the San Diego Zoo.
