Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse, Operating Room

The Registered Nurse, Operating Room delivers direct patient care during the intra-operative period of surgery through the framework of the nursing process. The role involves providing a safe, efficient, and caring environment for surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate broad surgical knowledge, including understanding of surgical anatomy, physiologic alterations, intra-operative risk factors, and psychosocial implications for patients and their families.
  2. Anticipate the needs of patients and the surgical team, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions promptly.
  3. Evaluate safety, cost, and outcomes of patient care services.
  4. Proficiently and independently circulate in the operating room.
  5. Teach and serve as a preceptor to new employees, students, or visitors.

This position is classified as safety sensitive.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.

Note: New hires with expired BLS certification will be scheduled for the first available class during orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Operating Room experience.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of CPSI.
