Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Assess admission and ongoing condition of patients; provide nursing care to meet physical, psychological and spiritual needs. Notify physician of changes in assessment that require attention.
• Design, direct, evaluate, and document plan of care, including patient/family teaching and transition of care plans for safe discharge. Work with other clinical disciplines to meet specialized patient care and discharge needs. Formulate a plan of care and daily goals that consider individualized patient needs.
• Prepare patients physically, psychologically, and spiritually for treatments, surgeries and diagnostic studies to reduce anxiety. Know patients' conditions and report significant changes to Charge Nurse/Team Leader or physician. Implement patient safety initiatives and protocols, including medication safety practices, physician orders and consult notifications.
• Reassess patients at appropriate intervals following interventions. Notify physician as necessary to modify interventions. Adjust nursing care to meet emerging and changing needs of the patient.
• Give and receive report using Bedside Shift Report with family participation. Provide an accurate and comprehensive report to the incoming shift to help establish continuity of patient care. Receive report from the outgoing shift and delegate tasks as needed to maintain continuity of care according to coworkers' experience, abilities and patient acuity.
• Maintain a safe work environment by promptly removing all used and soiled equipment, linen and other materials to the appropriate location. Incorporate national and organizational goals to improve quality, patient safety and satisfaction. Report all patient safety and hazard concerns immediately.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing.
• At least one year of RN experience.
• Registered Nurse license in Texas, to be obtained upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR), to be obtained within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, to be obtained within 6 months.

Compensation

$35.45 - $55.36 per hour.
