Job summary

Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority is seeking a Regular Full Time Nursing Manager/Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in assessing resident care needs and implementing actions. You will supervise the nursing department, monitor quality of care, and ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a NC RN license, an associate degree in nursing, and supervisory experience in a nursing home setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Active unrestricted NC RN license required; multi-state license accepted if eligible.
• One year RN experience required.
• One year RN supervisory experience required.
• Medical experience in a nursing home setting preferred.
• BLS preferred; can be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Valid NC driver’s license required.
• 9–12 months to become proficient in most phases of this position.

Responsibilities

• Directs, evaluates and supervises all resident care and initiates corrective action.
• Makes daily resident rounds and reports status of nursing care to the Administrator and the Director of Nursing.
• Collects resident pre-admission/admission information and assists in determining level of care.
• Supervises nursing rehabilitation and restorative program implementation.
• Participates in Quality Indicator reports review and corrective actions to improve care.
• Assists with analysis of incident reports to determine causes and corrective actions.
• Reviews resident plans of care against physician orders to ensure proper implementation.
• Implements Quality Assessment and Assurance Program for the nursing department.
• Performs RN duties as needed; participates in on-call duty.
• Supervises Infection Control Program and reports to Infection Control Committee.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team and rehabilitation conferences.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident and facility information.
• Identifies safety hazards and initiates corrective action as needed.
• Assesses equipment and supply needs; makes recommendations to DON.
• Observes Residents' Bill of Rights; completes admissions/readmissions orders & assessments.
• Covid testing for staff and residents; track immunizations and yearly PPD.
