Job Description: RN Supervisor
Shift: 12 hour shifts (7am - 7pm or 7pm - 7am)
The RN Supervisor is a licensed professional nurse who reports directly to the Director of Nursing Services. The role involves assisting in planning, organizing, developing, and directing nursing services to ensure the highest quality of resident care at all times.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current nursing license in the practicing state
- At least one year of supervisory experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written
- Good mental, emotional, and physical health
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure residents have a clean, safe, orderly, and comfortable environment
- Initiate resident Care Plans upon admission
- Implement recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services
- Develop, review, revise, and update resident Care Plans
- Notify attending or alternate physicians and legal guardians of significant health changes or emergencies
- Review and address complaints and grievances from families
- Evaluate emergencies and assist in emergency response measures
- Maintain a clean and safe unit environment with necessary equipment and supplies
- Notify physicians and complete incident reports for resident incidents or unusual occurrences
- Assist in investigations of abuse or unusual incidents
- Monitor and start intravenous medications as ordered
- Support nursing procedures and assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Assist in addressing findings from health department inspections and quality assessments
- Complete assessments such as restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel, bladder, and I&O evaluations
- Ensure accurate and descriptive documentation in nurse’s notes
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator
Supervision
- Conduct resident rounds to ensure proper care and address issues
- Meet with nursing staff to improve resident care and resolve problems
- Assist with physician rounds as needed
- Help revise and distribute nursing assignments during shortages
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff, participating in disciplinary actions as necessary
Consumer Service
- Present a professional image through dress, behavior, and speech
- Follow company standards in resolving resident concerns
- Protect residents' rights at all times
