RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) is a licensed professional nurse directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services. The RN Supervisor assists in planning, organizing, developing, and directing nursing services to ensure the highest quality of resident care at all times.
RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current nursing licensure in the state of practice.
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Good mental, emotional, and physical health.
RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
- Ensure residents have a clean, safe, orderly, and comfortable environment.
- Initiate resident Plans of Care upon admission.
- Assist in implementing recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.
- Develop, review, revise, and update resident Plans of Care for individual residents.
- Notify attending or alternate physicians and legal guardians when residents become critically ill, injured, or experience significant changes in condition, following established policies.
- Review complaints and grievances from families and notify the Director of Nursing Services.
- Evaluate emergencies and assist in implementing emergency measures.
- Maintain a clean and safe unit environment for resident comfort and convenience, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Notify physicians of resident incidents or unusual occurrences, complete Accident/Incident Reports, and document in medical records.
- Assist in investigating alleged abuse or unusual occurrences per policies.
- Start and monitor intravenous medications as ordered.
- Support nursing staff in performing procedures and in admitting, transferring, and discharging residents.
- Assist in addressing findings and deficiencies from health authorities and quality assurance teams.
- Complete assessments such as restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel, bladder, and weekly I&O evaluations.
- Ensure thorough and descriptive charting of nurse’s notes.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Perform other duties as necessary or directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.
Supervision
- Conduct resident rounds to ensure appropriate care and make corrections as needed.
- Meet with nursing staff to identify and resolve problems, and improve resident care.
- Assist in rounds with physicians as necessary.
- Help revise and distribute nursing assignments during shortages.
- Supervise and direct nursing personnel, participate in disciplinary actions, and evaluate staff performance.
Consumer Service
- Present a professional image through dress, behavior, and speech.
- Follow company standards in resolving resident concerns.
- Protect resident rights at all times.
