Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Human Services, seeks a Registered Nurse Supervisor to guide nursing staff at Clarks Summit State Hospital. You will oversee patient care, coordinate across units, and ensure adherence to professional standards.

You will supervise staffing, support communication, conduct needs assessments, provide training, and participate in quality oversight to sustain safe, high‑quality care for individuals with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) or four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services for individuals with mental/physical injury or disability.
• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain RN licensure within one year as defined by the PA State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Staff Supervision: Direct nursing personnel in patient care and treatment services
• Care Coordination: Support communication between shifts to maintain continuity and a safe environment
• Needs Assessment: Guide staff in identifying and assessing physical, psychosocial, mental health, and developmental needs
• Training Support: Provide orientation, education, and coaching to nursing department personnel
• Quality Oversight: Monitor care practices, review documentation, and ensure adherence to nursing standards
• Team Collaboration: Work with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support consistent and effective care
