Job summary

Northport Medical Center in Northport, AL seeks an RN for Step Down/PCU/IMC on a 13-week travel contract. The unit is multi-specialty, Med/Surg/Telemetry focused, with up to 36 patients and a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Night shifts 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3x12s, with every-other weekend and holidays as scheduled. Requirements include ASN, active Alabama RN license or Compact license, BLS, NURSYS verification, and 2 years of RN experience preferred.

Qualifications

• ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license; temporary licenses NOT accepted.
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross).
• NURSYS verification required.
• 2 years RN experience preferred; 18 months may be considered with higher license and at least 1 year of recent specialty experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care on Med/Surg/Telemetry PCU/Step-Down unit.
• Float to other units and hospitals as needed.
• Pain management, mobility, and prevention of complications.

RN – Step Down/PCU/IMC – Northport, AL - URGENT

Department: MSU – Med Surg/Telemetry

Assignment: Travel Contract

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Nights – 7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Schedule: 3x12s – 36 Hours/Week

Weekend: Every other weekend

Holidays: Required as scheduled

Local Candidates: Accepted

Pay Rate: $52–$54/hour

Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,872–$1,944/week

Unit Details

• Multi-specialty unit primarily focused on Med/Surg/Telemetry
• PCU/Step-Down environment
• Up to 36 patients
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Team Leader provides additional support and is out of staffing
• Medical patient population may include:
  • Dialysis patients
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Acute medical conditions
• Surgical patient population may include:
  • Orthopedic procedures
  • Fractures, shoulders and backs
  • General surgery
  • Appendectomy
  • Hernia repair
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Colon resection
• Strong focus on pain management, mobility and prevention of complications
• Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals

Requirements

• ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing – Required

• Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered if:
  • Working under the highest level of professional license
  • At least 1 year of recent specialty experience
• Recent Step Down/PCU/IMC or Med/Surg/Telemetry experience
• Must be comfortable floating to other units/hospitals

RTO Requirements

• Holiday RTO is NOT permitted
• Maximum 7 days of RTO during the 13-week contract
• RTO must be non-consecutive
