Job summary

Northport Medical Center in Northport, AL is seeking an RN for a 13‑week Travel Contract in the MSU – Med Surg/Telemetry with a Step Down/PCU focus. Shift: Nights 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; Schedule: 3x12s (36 hours/week); Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled; Local candidates accepted.

Unit focuses on Med/Surg/Telemetry and PCU/Step-Down care, with up to 36 patients; RN will float to other units/hospitals as needed.

Qualifications

• ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
• Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license.
• BLS required (AHA or Red Cross).
• NURSYS verification required.
• 2 years RN experience preferred; 18 months considered with exceptions.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care on a multi-specialty Med/Surg/Telemetry and PCU/Step-Down unit.
• Monitor dialysis/telemetry patients and manage pain, mobility and complications.
• Float to other units/hospitals as needed during shifts.

Pay

Pay Rate: $52-$54/hour
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,872-$1,944/week

Multi-specialty unit primarily focused on Med/Surg/Telemetry

PCU/Step-Down environment

Up to 36 patients

Team Leader provides additional support and is out of staffing

Medical patient population may include:

Dialysis patients

Telemetry monitoring

Acute medical conditions

Surgical patient population may include:

Orthopedic procedures

Fractures, shoulders and backs

Hernia repair

Cholecystectomy

Strong focus on pain management, mobility and prevention of complications

Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals

Requirements

ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing – Required

Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license

Temporary licenses NOT accepted

AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS – Required

NURSYS verification required

2 years of RN experience preferred

Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered if:

Working under the highest level of professional license

At least 1 year of recent specialty experience

Recent Step Down/PCU/IMC or Med/Surg/Telemetry experience

Must be comfortable floating to other units/hospitals

RTO Requirements

Holiday RTO is NOT permitted

Maximum 7 days of RTO during the 13-week contract

RTO must be non-consecutive
