RN Staffing Specialist, Full-time, First Shift

UC Health is hiring a full-time RN Staffing Specialist for the UC Medical Center.

The RN Staffing Specialist assists the RN Staffing Supervisor with the daily operations of the UC Health Central Staffing Office. They collaborate with Nursing Leadership, the Nursing House Supervisor team, and Staffing Coordinators to ensure staffing schedules are aligned appropriately for current and upcoming shifts across various divisions and campuses. The RN Staffing Specialist acts as a key liaison with the Agency Staffing team for UC Health and helps determine appropriate levels and placement of inpatient agency staff. They support staffing coordinators and senior staffing coordinators, are super-users of the electronic scheduling system, and help balance schedules to maximize capacity and throughput, ensuring efficiency. This role advocates for clinical quality and safety and represents the clinician experience in decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Manage agency communications promptly.
  • Assist the RN Staffing Supervisor with managing Central Staffing Office Coordinators, including scheduling, call-off coverage, orientation, and process improvements.
  • Support unit-based scheduling committees in developing schedules in accordance with union contracts and policies.
  • Help ensure smooth inpatient division schedules during the build process.
  • Use clinical judgment to forecast staffing gaps and collaborate with nursing leaders to prevent them.
  • Work with department directors on projects and process improvements.
  • Assist with electronic scheduling and time management system concerns, ensuring staff and leaders have appropriate resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
