Job summary

The Registered Nurse at St. Tammany Health System coordinates clinical activities for Laboring, Antenatal and Post-Partum patients, using the nursing process to plan, implement and evaluate care. You will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and CNAs while upholding hospital policies and standards.

This role supports the department and hospital goals in a 24-hour operation, with scheduled 7pm-7am shifts in a compassionate, community-focused health system located in Covington, LA.

Qualifications

• Must hold LA RN license and BLS certification.
• Experience in labor, antepartum, and post-partum care is preferred.
• Certification as required by ILCOR courses (ALS/NRP) within 3 months of hire.

Work Shift: 7pm-7am

Summary of the Job :

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities for the Laboring, Antenatal and Post-Partum (couplet) patient. Activities include, but are not limited to, use of the nursing process in the utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient. Registered Nurses also supervise the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. Registered Nurses work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The Registered Nurse will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications :

Successfully completed Board Certified Registered Nursing Program. One (1) year labor experience required. Current LA RN licensure. BLS required on hire. ALS and NRP preferred on hire, required within 3 months of hire. Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 3 months of hire, and must be updated/renewed every two (2) years.

Physical Demands:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
