SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The RN inpatient Nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. The inpatient RN will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records and administer medications to patients while monitoring for reactions and side effects. The RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients? conditions.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION FORPEDIATRIC PERIANESTHESIA:

Nurses in the 28-bed intensive care unit care for patients before and following surgery, rotating through pre- and post-operative areas. Specialties involved in treatment include otolaryngology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric pulmonary, pediatric surgery and urology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period

Preferred Qualification:

  • Preferred: At least 1 year of Perianesthesia or PACU experience.
  • If no Perianesthesia experience, candidates with at least 2 years of ICU experience or 5 years of Med-Surg experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to work part-time or full-time hours during a 4-8 week orientation period.

PRN Scheduling Requirements:

  • Total 12 hours per 4-week schedule period
  • Holiday requirement: 12 hours total, scheduled either the day before or after designated holidays
  • Weekend availability: required to work a total of two 6 hour weekend shifts per calendar year.

?Flexibility to offer additional hours and gain experience in both pediatric and adult perianesthesia care, as our competencies and patient populations are aligned.
