Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis in Saint Louis, MO, seeks a RN Staff Nurse I to support the Highlands Plaza Allergy & Immunology clinic, providing outpatient nursing care and ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

The role includes administering injections, immunotherapy, vaccines, patch testing, and assisting ILIT administration while maintaining clinic workflow. Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with no weekends or on‑call requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN licensure in Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, per Compact Act.
• Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications without skills assessment not sufficient).

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
• Provides patient care, including administering medication and monitoring patient status.
• Counsels patients and families on disease processes and symptom management.
• Maintains medical records with timely documentation.
• Collaborates with health care team to adjust care plans for optimal outcomes.
• Assists providers with examinations, prescriptions and procedures.
• Maintains required skills through ongoing education and CPR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The RN Staff Nurse I supports the daily operations of the Highlands Plaza Allergy & Immunology clinic, providing specialized outpatient nursing care and ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities include administering allergy injections, venom injections, biologics, and vaccines; mixing Immunotherapy serum, preparing and applying patch testing, and helping with ILIT administration and supporting overall clinic workflow.

This full-time position offers an excellent work-life balance with a Monday–Friday schedule (7:45 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) and no weekends, holidays, nights, or on‑call requirements.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
• Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
• Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
• Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
• Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
