Texas Oncology/Texas Breast Specialists is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Charlton and Dallas locations. This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the Registered Nurse (RN) do? (Including but not limited to)

Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians’ schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and Discuss Surgical Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Care plans.
  • Ensure patients receive high-quality and timely care by guiding them through every step of their treatment process
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested’
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
  • Collaborates and acts as resource to Medical Assistants
  • Provides nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Clinic Registered Nurse (RN)will have the following background and experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
  • Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.



  • Oncology experience preferred***
  • Surgical experience beneficial***

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
