Registered Nurse (RN), Special Care Unit

Full Time Nights (12 hour shift)

Qualifications And Requirements

Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.

Additional Requirements Include

  • One (1) or more years of experience in an acute care setting and/or geriatric setting preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (or) obtained within 90 days after hire date.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Department/Unit Summary

  • 12 Bed Unit
  • 1:6 Patient Ratio
  • 10-12-day LOS
  • Patients receive therapy daily, participate in activities and communal meals
  • Therapy staff has a large presence on this unit as well and works collaboratively with nursing.
  • Option to work every 6th weekend, no mandatory overtime (three shifts per week only)
  • Extremely flexible scheduling options
  • Provider coverage on unit to provide nursing support 24/7
  • Admissions and discharges are planned well in advance, so it is much less turnover for patients than an inpatient setting
