Responsibilities
Job Summary
- This job is responsible for providing a wide variety of professional nursing services focused on delivering quality patient care consistent with hospital standards, values, applicable regulatory requirements, and scope of practice for the nursing profession.
- Work includes developing, implementing, and assessing the patient plan of care during the stay, in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and the patient/family.
- The incumbent engages in direct patient care, including assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and delegating work to the patient care team, as well as providing education and consultation to patients, families, physicians, and staff for optimal patient care.
- Work is performed under safety and care standards that guide handling patient issues and needs in the absence of a physician.
- Requires judgment and critical thinking skills to make decisions regarding patient care, utilizing standards, resources, and data efficiently.
- Involves continuous contact with physicians, patients, families, community agencies, staff, and management.
- The incumbent is accountable for the quality of care provided and has authority to direct care, provide education, seek resources, and delegate tasks.
- This position serves as the primary Registered Nurse delivering care to postpartum women and newborns admitted to the Family Birth Center.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN degree preferred.
- Minimum 6 months RN experience required; 1 year in an acute care setting preferred.
- Lactation certification preferred.
- Previous recent Labor and Delivery experience or 1-2 years Med/Surg with Mother/Baby education.
- Current RN licensure issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- NRP certification within 6 months of hire; NCC or ANCC certification preferred.
