Qualifications

• Current RN license to practice in the State of South Carolina.
• ADN, Diploma or BSN required.
• New graduate RN’s who acquire their generic RN education through an on-line program will not meet LMC minimum qualifications.
• Substitutable Education & Experience: None
• Refer to Mandatory Certification Requirements P&P for required education/certification for various nursing specialties.
• Required Training: None

Responsibilities

• Establishes positive rapport with patient and family.
• Provides emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
• Educates patients and families on conditions and self-care.
• Acts as patient/family advocate.
• Documents actions and needs to maintain continuity.

• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Ethical decision making to optimize outcomes.
• L&D RN with 2+ years can perform EMTALA screenings.
• Adheres to standards and measures health outcomes.
• Resolves patient problems with multidisciplinary teams.
• Participates in process improvement with evidence-based practice.
• Maintains safe, clean working environment.
• Follows infection-control policies and storage procedures.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Maintains professional knowledge through workshops.
